According to TVLine, Glynn Turman, the Emmy Award-winning actor famous for his performances in A Different World, The Wire, and In Treatment, will play the role of Otis, Tina Butler's father, portrayed by Tichina Arnold. Turman is set to appear in a two-episode story arc in Season 7, with his first appearance scheduled for Episode 6 in early December.
CBS describes Otis as Tina's "outgoing and likable father," who arrives with seemingly good news: he has left his difficult second wife, Loretta, and is ready to embrace his newfound freedom. However, beneath the surface, all is not as it appears. Otis struggles with driving but insists on taking the wheel, sneaks fried chicken, and reveals that Loretta left because he wasn’t taking care of himself. As the family navigates these revelations, it becomes clear that Loretta played a crucial role in keeping Otis healthy. This situation raises questions about what the family will do next and how they will support Otis in this new chapter of his life. Turman's addition to the cast promises to bring depth and humor to the storyline.
The Neighborhood Season 7 will begin on Monday, October 21, at 8/7c on CBS. Tichina Arnold reprises her role as Tina, alongside Cedric the Entertainer (Calvin), Max Greenfield (Dave), Beth Behrs (Gemma), Marcel Spears (Marty), Sheaun McKinney (Malcolm), Hank Greenspan (Grover), and Skye Townsend (Courtney), now a series regular.
The new season starts right after the events of Season 6, with Marty and Courtney coming back home with their baby daughter, Daphne. A comedic twist unfolds as Tina realizes that "the baby apparently hates her," leading to funny moments as the family adjusts to this unexpected situation. Season 7 will bring a mix of familiar characters and fresh storylines, promising to deliver the same heartfelt humor that fans adore.
