Eva sits down for an interview with Nicole. During their chat, Eva mentions that Leslie was best friends with her mother—at least, that’s what she tells Nicole, though I’m not buying it. Meanwhile, Haley is in her bridal suite getting ready while chatting with Bill on the phone. She gushes about all the luxuries they enjoy, and Bill promises she'll have everything she’s been missing. Although she claims she doesn’t care about material things, I don’t believe her. She admits feeling guilty and sleazy, but Bill simply says he has no regrets.
Dani wakes up with Andre watching over her. He smooth-talks her, but she tells him that their night together is something that should just never have happened. He says he hopes she won’t regret it, reminding her she can be with whoever she chooses. She confesses that she was married for so long that she still feels married, but she has no regrets. She admits that he made her feel things she hasn’t felt in ages—yet she’s not ready; she’s still raw. He’s sorry to hear that.
Nicole takes a liking to Eva and tells her that the job is hers if she wants it—until Laura comes back. Meanwhile, Haley continues to gush to a colleague at the wedding, then goes into her fake guilt about the people she has hurt. Back at Dani’s, Andre tells her that she can do whatever she wants—no strings are attached, it’s entirely up to her. She remarks that would be true if she could even find him in the world, and he says he’s thinking of sticking around. Dani tries to kick him out, and he warns her that it could send Bill a message that she is moving on if he sees his car, but she isn’t willing to go that route. She simply hasn’t given up yet.
Haley asks Caroline, one of her colleagues, if she thinks the coworkers really like her. Caroline reminds her that she once mentioned having it rough growing up. Haley dives into her familiar homewrecker sob story—about how her father left, her mother resented her, and how she never had any siblings. Caroline reassures her by saying that she does have a family there.
At the hospital, Ashley video calls Naomi. She talks about Haley’s dismal upbringing and how she wants to help her. She explains that she valued their friendship only to be betrayed and will carry guilt for bringing Haley into her family’s life. Ashley suggests that maybe it was for the best, as it exposed Bill’s true colors.
Meanwhile, Dani shows up at Bill’s office. She tells him he owes it to her to listen, urging him to come home where he belongs. She isn’t expecting a miracle, but she believes they can make it work. Bill asks if she really believes that and cruelly plays into her hopes. She insists that they belong together—she didn't imagine how deeply they once loved each other. It was real. He admits that she was his everything once. She recounts their history and makes it clear she isn’t going to lose it all to Haley or anyone else. She pleads with him, but he patronizes her like the ass he is.
At the Richardson’s, everyone’s taking pictures. Kat tries to land a spot as Andre’s assistant, but he tells her she doesn’t have it locked down yet. Andre asks about Ashley, and Kat tells him she’s taken and it’s none of his business. Ted then remarks that Ashley isn’t his usual type, and Nicole chimes in, noting that she isn’t the casual type like he is. Meanwhile, Denise tries to get the tea from Ashley at the hospital, but Ashley avoids it.
Back at Bill’s, he recalls the first time he saw Dani—at a party for a football player, Wayne Maddox. He talks about how taken he was with her and then laments that this memory is so sad. He even calls her desperate. Ouch. He asks her what happened to all her pride, and she tells him she can’t believe he’d have the nerve to say that to her. She insists that whatever she is, he helped shape her, but he refuses to take responsibility, saying she’s accountable for her own actions. As they always point out, she’s a Dupree and should have more restraint. Bill has her spun in his web of cruelty, believing he holds power because he can hurt her. He talks down to her and tells her to show some grace by forgiving Haley. Dani leaves, looking every bit like a woman on a mission.
Later, Kat wonders if she should call Nicole and Ted by their first names or simply Mom and Dad, as she’s interviewing them for the expose Andre is shooting. It’s tied to the award Nicole is receiving—a tribute to her. They reminisce about how they met, though neither can remember who introduced them at a conference. Back in the bridal suite, Haley has her makeup done by Caroline, who tells her just how wonderful she is.
At home, Dani pulls out a shoebox and opens it as the scene fades to a commercial break. Later, at the country club, the Duprees have gathered—everyone is singing Dani’s praises for her bravery and strength. She tells them she did it for the girls, and they agree that any one of them could have been in her shoes. Anita adds that the good news is they won't have to attend the reception and hopes the wedding will be brief.
Bill then approaches Vernon, saying he never thought they’d pull it off and that it seems a bit backhanded with everyone dressed in black. Vernon replies that it’s fitting, marking the end of his influence over the family—the last favor he expects from the Duprees. Anita tells Dani she thought she was going to run off to Paris, but Vernon says he’s glad she came. Dani responds that if she ended up there, it was meant to be.
Next, we meet Vanessa’s husband—a surprise, since she was roleplaying with someone else. Shortly after, Dani’s best friend (played by Cady McClain) shows up. Then Tomas approaches Kat; when she asks if he knows her, he reveals he works at Bill’s firm. Kat sighs that it’s unfortunate, and Tomas doesn’t hold back as he asks her out.
Smitty gets a personal call and dodges the question when Martin asks who it was. Later, Bill approaches Dani and claims he owes her an apology—he wants to make amends and find a middle ground so they can coexist. Dani fires back, telling him she doesn’t wish him or his whore well. She reminds him that he must have done something for her parents to insist she attend, and she hopes her presence casts a dark cloud over the ceremony. With that, she throws champagne in his face.
Hayley is ready, dressed in her wedding gown with a headdress, but she’s anxious about the room being empty—I’m really irritated by her constant worry over attendance.
Bill approaches his daughters, trying to smooth talk them. Naomi walks away and Bill assumes that Chelsea must hate him too, but she denies it, insisting she just doesn’t like him very much before she too walks off.
Dani confides in Nicole about a moment of weakness she had with Bill. Nicole delivers the harsh truth: Bill doesn’t love her anymore. She then asks if Dani’s obsession stems from love or simply a fear of being alone. But Dani isn’t in the mood to be psychoanalyzed—she’s sacrificed too much already and won’t let go until Bill suffers.
Bill then turns to Martin, buttering him up about reaching his full potential. He believes that once old wounds heal, the family will remember just how useful he can be in delicate situations. At one point he uses the term “overkill,” hinting at a secret he knows, and he even lobs a thinly veiled threat at Martin—implying the family better let him in or face the consequences.
The girls then approach their mom and tell her she looks fabulous. She reminds them that no matter what happens, they should never doubt that she loves them fiercely. After sending them on their way while she freshens up, the look on her face suggests she’s far from at ease.
A woman begins playing the harp as Bill takes his place, and Dani sits beside her daughters. Hayley starts down the aisle, but as she scans the crowd, she suddenly grows nervous. Bill mouths silent reassurances to her.
Andre shows up at the nurse’s station to take Ashley to her car. Meanwhile, Leslie is at home pacing, anxiously awaiting word from Eva. When Eva arrives, she teases Leslie before announcing that she got the job. Eva is, in fact, Leslie’s daughter—and had lied to Nicole by claiming that Leslie was her mother’s best friend. They celebrate together, joking that Nicole won’t know what hit her, since she doesn’t really know who they are, and Leslie adds that Eva will finally be where she’s meant to be—in her father’s house.
In the elevator, Andre makes a private joke about a patient riding with him—one that Ashley clearly doesn’t get—when suddenly the elevator breaks down just as the woman goes into labor.
Meanwhile, as Bill and Hayley are getting married, Dani watches intently. Out of nowhere, she pulls a gun from her purse, declares her objection, aims at Bill, and fires—just as the scene fades to black.
